What counts as a local move
Anything inside Austin proper, from the East Side over to South Lamar and down toward Buda and Kyle, is priced as a local move by the hour rather than the mile. The crew size and truck size are matched to what you actually own, not to a guess based on bedroom count.
A one bedroom near the university might take two movers and a smaller box truck. A four bedroom house near Mueller with a garage full of tools usually takes four movers and a full size truck. If you are not sure which you need, send a short video of each room and we will size the crew from that.
A typical move day
The crew arrives in the agreed window, walks the house with you, and pads door frames and stair rails before anything is carried. Furniture gets wrapped in moving blankets and stretch film and loaded in a planned order so nothing shifts on the drive.
At the new place, everything goes to the room you name. Beds are put back together, and we ask you to walk the truck with us before we leave so nothing gets left behind on the curb.
Austin apartment buildings
Downtown high rises and the newer buildings around the university tend to have strict rules: a reserved freight elevator, a certificate of insurance, and a fixed window such as nine to four on weekdays. Call the office early in the process and hand those requirements straight to us.
We have moved in and out of most of the larger complexes near campus and downtown and can usually tell you what to expect before the office calls you back.
Moving in the Austin heat
Texas heat is a real factor from May through September. We start as early as the building or street allows, rotate the crew on the heaviest carries, and keep the truck doors shut between trips to hold the temperature down inside.
If your schedule is flexible, a weekday morning slot runs cooler and often books faster than a Saturday afternoon in July.
